MakeUp!!!

Two weeks ago I did the MakeUp for a fashion show. The clothes were from the Galeana line and the designer is Jose. He was so fun to work with. I had a really great time doing the makeup, collaborating, meeting the models and other artists and getting dressed up. Haha. The fashion show was at Sutra in Newport. Its a club and the fashion show started at about 10:30. It was such a fun way to do a fashion show! Such a different vibe. Loved it. My friend, Kristina, came with me and we did the makeup together. We make a good team :) And we might take a lot of pictures together.

So anyways, while we were doing that, Kimmy, a director at RAW, who just so happen to also be organizing the fashion show, mentioned that they might need makeup artists for next week's showcase. Pretty sure Kristina and I jumped right on that. Lol.

RAW is all about Natural Born Artists. They have showcases once a month that feature all kinds of artist's work: People that paint or create art on canvas, poets, bands, Djs, Hair stylist, MakeUp artists, Models, etc. The showcases are designed to Showcase the Artist and their work and get their name out into the world. Or at least out into their community :) When you are a "Featured Artist," along with your work being showcased, you get professional pictures for your portfolio and an interview on RAW Tv. Its a pretty cool thing to be a part of!

So, the next Friday we helped out with the MakeUp for the Showcase. Initially there was only one Makeup Artist and 10 models, so Kristina and I got to do a good amount of the girls and both of us ended up being featured that night! We ended up with some great photos and were both interviewed. And then we stayed and danced our lashes off the rest of the night.

Cut to this week :) I filled out a profile for the RAW website...and just in time to make the nominations for MakeUp Artist of the Year!!! WHAT? Yes! The first round of voting is all done by Fans (and friends, and family, and blog friends and followers..hint hint ;) Voting starts at MIDNIGHT TONIGHT. I will definitely let you know how to vote once voting opens, don't you worry. BUT I really think I have a good chance of making it to the next round- with all y'alls help of course.

Its been so great doing the MakeUp for these events. Makeup for fashion shows is so different. And I love it. Its a little stressful, just because we're working under a timeline and "stage makeup" takes a little more time, but I love being able to do dramatic makeup and funky makeup. Its great being able to make it bright and expressive and intense.

AND I'm the Featured Makeup Artist (along with Kristina Brooke!!!) at the next RAW Showcase. It's called Pulse and its October 21st at Sutra. Wanna come??? Tickets are $10. If you want to buy one, or some, let me know! I'll get you on the list :) Its going to be Halloween themed. Our walk through is Oct 7th, so I'll get more info on a makeup theme, and what, if any, designers I'll be working with. Can't wait!!!

Hi Fall!

It's weird how fast the weather changes as soon as "Fall" officially starts. Its suppose to be in the 80s this week though...so I only got a taste of my fall wardrobe. And it felt good :) I'm ready for fall weather and fall fashion!

The other day I twisted Raya's hair and it turned out so cute. I did it really fast so it wasn't as "clean" as it probably could have been. AND it was my first time...so I know how to do it better next time. I did it again this weekend and it was even cuter. And its great because she took a bath today and it stayed in place and looked just as good after it dried.

Kallen was pretty fussy last week. Not through the night, thankfully. But during the day he'd only play for short periods of time and the rest of the time he wanted to be held. Just wanted me to take him around everywhere. I know its cause he's teething. I could see both of his top 2 front teeth getting ready to break through. Then Friday we wake up and a tooth on the bottom had broke through! I only ever saw the top ones and before they even come in this bottom one comes outta nowhere. Poor kid. Raya never had teething issues. She literally got 2 teeth every month starting at 6 months and by her 1st bday had 12 teeth. LOL. And they never bothered her when they were coming in. I'm super thankful that Kallen is sleeping through it!

And I know I've said it a couple times now, but I was pretty positive Kallen was going to be way behind Raya in their Physical Milestones because at first he really didn't seem to be interested in moving or crawling. Welllll, I'm thinking this 8month old of mine might be walking in the next few weeks. Raya stood unassisted for the frist time at about 9.5 months and then started walking a week before she turned 10 months. For the last 2 weeks Kallen has been standing totally unassisted and for long periods of time. We can literally set him down on his feet, give him a second and he gets his balance and stands there. All day he's picking up toys and standing in the living room playing with them. It's so crazy to me. HAHA. He's cruising the furniture and really looking like any day now he's going to take a step. I can tell he wants to but he can't quite figure out his first move. And all weekend Gentry's been trying to bribe him with toys to take a step towards him and I try and push him down HAHAHA. I'm like "DONT ENCOURAGE IT." I was kinda excited thinking that he wouldn't walk until he was about 1 because as soon as Raya started walking life got intense. So knowing he could be walking in the next few weeks kinda freaks me out. And makes me NOT want to push the issue. But it still makes me proud in a totally "Competitive Athlete" kinda way. Hehe.

And one of the first really funny and mature things Raya said to me today:
We were outside and she kept kicking our dog's empty water bowl. Its metal. And empty. So its really loud when she kicks it against the concrete. And its even more annoying. So I say: "Raya, stop kicking the dog's water bowl!" And she says, without thinking twice or batting an eye: "Calm down." HAHAHA. I immediately started laughing. She said it clear as day and totally meant it.

And the last 2 Fridays I've done the Makeup for Fashion Shows! I'll do a whole post on it, but its been so much fun! The first one was an actual Fashion Show and the second was a Artist Showcase. I got to work with some great people. And everyone was so fun to be around. And we stayed and danced our lashes off after. Lol. Good times!

Keeping Up with Kallen & Raya Recently

He's been doing a lot of this:

And this:

He's letting go alot to stand and sometimes he bounces. Haha. Kinda looks like he's dancing. He's also cruising the furniture. Sometimes it looks like he's going to just take a step and start walking. He's not close to that. Don't worry ;) But he's definitely doing more than I thought he'd be doing!

I can see his bottom 2 teeth so good! They're cute. And I can see one of his top teeth coming in.

He's been getting FEISTY! He'll definitely throw a little bit of a fit when I move him away from something he's not suppose to be getting into- which right now is the dog's water bowl. I use to have one in the kitchen, but every time Kallen crawled into the kitchen he'd hit the corner, see the bowl and make a bee-line. And he just slaps the water. Hard. The first couple times it was hilarious because he'd crawl SO fast and slap the water so hard. But now its kinda annoying ;) Needless to say there's no more water bowl in the kitchen.

Lately he's wanted to be held alot. Raya rarely wanted to be held. I'd put her down and she'd crawl all over and explore. I put Kallen down and he's good for 10 or 15 minutes, but not too long after, he crawls over to me and pulls himself up on my knees and whimpers for me to pick him up. He's such a Mama's Boy. The sweetest part though is when I do pick him up he hugs me so hard. Like a little baby koala. Just locks onto me and rests his head on my shoulder. Uh, love him!

AND Raya's potty trained. YESSSS!!!! I'm still a little weary about going out of the house for longer than a few hours...but so far the times we've been out its been all good. It feels GREAT to be down to one kid in diapers!

Can you tell where Raya puts her potty training stickers????

LOVE his face in this swing picture!

She wants me to push her so high! The whole time she's in the swing she says "More high! More high! More high!"

And the most important thing that happened this week: Raya got her 1st set of MakeUp Brushes!!!
She always wants to use mine, especially when I'm doing my makeup, so when I saw these at Forever 21 for $2 I HAD to get them. Ahhh, makes me such a proud Mom <3

The first night she practiced on her doll...

And by the next morning it was her favorite little brother :)

My Girl <3

And we'll end on this note. Lol.
